Where to learn the Physics Gun, where to drive, and which community maps to skip on a potato PC.
Map choice decides whether Rays Mod feels like a workshop or a slideshow. This list ranks map types more than every community thumbnail, because v5.7 added six community maps and earlier waves added more than a dozen. Hub rules: tier list hub. First-hour picking: how to play.
Turn on StreamingEnabled when a community map stutters. That option is part of the rank: a beautiful map that needs streaming on a low-end client is A, not S.
S tier
Official sandbox flats — crates, cars, and a horizon. This is where you learn freeze, weld, and Save n Load. If you cannot enjoy a flat sandbox, a community city will not save you. Build guide: build and Save n Load.
One mid-size official town / garage map (whatever your client still labels as a first-party sandbox with streets) — S for citizen vehicles and Look both ways. If your build of the game only shows flats plus community, the flat stays S and the best community town becomes A.
A tier
Open community airfields and highways — A for military packs, the Crazyman32 plane, and convoy film work. C for Keepy Uppy (props travel too far) and for potato PCs without StreamingEnabled.
Power Surge arena — A when you want Target Practice and Golden AK-47. F as a build map. Do not Save n Load a fortress into the target pit. Badge: badges.
Cops n Crooks-friendly city tiles — A for the v5.7 NPC set and citizen cars. B if Nextbots are also on.
B tier
Community interiors / houses — B for Tool Gun detail work, C for vehicles, F for mechs. Great for a private 10 Robux film night.
Zombie survival map — B for the Survived 10 minutes badge, C as a daily hangout. Entities on that map are mode enemies, not your Nextbot pack.
Nextbot horror community maps — B if the server voted for a chase, F if you loaded one during a build session. Pack notes: NPCs.
C tier
Huge unoptimized community dumps — C even when they look like S in a thumbnail. If the description mentions hundreds of lights and you are on a laptop, pick something else. StreamingEnabled is a bandage, not a miracle.
VR-first maps — C until the official VR rework exists. The description still says VR is planned to be reworked. Do not pick a map because a 2021 video said VR was fine.
How to vote in a 25-player room
Say the job first: “build,” “drive,” “Power Surge,” or “Nextbots.” Then vote the map that matches. A military pack on an interior map is how people decide addons are bad. An official flat on a Nextbot night is how people decide the game is empty. The addon tier list assumes you will match the pack to the tile.
Private servers can pin a map. Public servers cannot. If your house needs a specific tile, host. 10 Robux is cheaper than arguing in chat for twenty minutes and then losing the vote.
Favorite slots (some clients let you pin about ten maps, historically tied to a Portal Gun extra) are for the S and A tiles you actually replay. Do not pin every new community row. v5.7 will ship more.
When you have two maps you trust — one flat, one themed — you can ignore the rest of the browser. That is a successful rank. Come back when a patch notes page lists another six community tiles, and only promote a tile after one clean Physics Gun hour, not after a thumbnail.
