Rays Mod Tool Gun and Spawn Menu

The Tool Gun is the second stock tool you should learn in Rays Mod, right after the Physics Gun. The spawn menu is the third. They share a key on PC: hold Q. On mobile, tap Spawn. This page is the menu and the tool, not the Physics Gun binds — those live on Physics Gun controls. Persistence after you finish a shape lives on build and Save n Load.

You do not need an addon pack to use the Tool Gun. You do not need a promo code. You do not need a script. If a loadstring “gives all tools,” it is unofficial and it can wipe the same room you are trying to build in. Warnings sit on the scripts hub.

Opening the spawn menu without losing the beam

Hold Q, do not tap it. The menu is a hold overlay. Categories you will see on a clean account: props, NPCs, vehicles, ragdolls, tools, and addons you already own. Search exists on current clients (added in an earlier notes wave). Spawn a prop by clicking it. v5.7.1 added spawn undoing, so a misclick is not a permanent statue in the doorway.

The same overlay hosts settings people confuse with a shop: prop damage, PVP toggle, color picker, and sometimes StreamingEnabled. PVP off can award Angel Mode. Prop damage on is how you earn Man vs Inanimate Object. None of those rows install a pack. Packs are on the main menu, left side. See how to get addons.

Tool Gun modes that matter

Exact mode names shift with patches, but the jobs stay stable:

• Weld — parent two objects so a Physics Gun grab moves both. This is the mode that turns crates into a base.
• Rope / elastic — hang a prop off a vehicle or a ceiling. Good for cranes, bad for public tripwires.
• Thruster — add force. Funny in singleplayer. A grief tool in a 25-player lobby if you bolt it under someone else’s car.
• Balloon — required for Balloon Popper (250 pops in one server). Spawn, shoot, count. Explosives often do not count. Badge notes: badges.
• Bomb / explosive — exists in stock or in the Explosives pack depending on your unlocks. Do not test this as your first public action.
• Remover / undo — delete your last mistake. Prefer this over launching the prop into the void.

Switch modes from the spawn overlay or the Tool Gun’s own radial, depending on your client. If a mode is grey, you lack the addon or the gamepass that owns it. Admin-only toys stay locked on public servers even if you own Admin.

A first structure that teaches every mode

Spawn four crates and a long plank. Freeze two crates as posts with the Physics Gun. Weld the plank on top. Rope a fifth crate under the plank as a swing. Add one thruster on a scrap prop away from the house so you learn force without deleting the house. Save. Rejoin. If the house is gone, you skipped Save n Load or you hit a pre-v5.7 corruption case that the patch notes say was addressed. Try once more in a private server before you blame the tool.

Vehicles by SecondLogic weld cleanly if you freeze them first. Welding a moving car in a public server is how you yeet three teammates. The plane by Crazyman32 is a worse first weld; learn on crates.

Mobile Tool Gun

Spawn is a button, not a hold. Mode switching is tap-heavy. Precision welds are harder without a mouse. Build larger pieces and fewer tiny decorations. If a weld misses, undo instead of stacking a second weld on the wrong face. The cheatsheet’s mobile column is on controls.

What not to spawn in public

Nextbots from a pack you just tested, a full military convoy, and a bomb stack. Test those in singleplayer. Public rooms are where people hunt Target Practice, Keepy Uppy, and Day 7 Toy Car. Your Tool Gun can end those attempts in one click. That is not a flex. It is why servers toggle PVP and why Angel Mode exists.
