Rays Mod Review (2026)

Ray’s Mod is a free Roblox remake of Garry’s Mod by dreamy™ / RayAurus. It launched on 1 May 2020, not next year. This wiki’s brand is Rays Mod. After about 295 million visits, the question is not “will it come out.” The question is whether v5.7 / v5.7.1 made the sandbox worth a 2026 evening. This review says yes — if you want a workshop, not a ranked shooter.

Who it is for

You will like it if the printed Physics Gun binds sound like a toy you want to master. You will like it if welding a house and saving it is a night. You will like it if Nextbots, citizen cars, and a Day 7 Toy Car sound like seasoning, not the meal. Start on how to play and Physics Gun.

You will bounce if you want a live-ops code economy, a Trello, a ranked ladder, or a finished VR cockpit. The official text still says VR is planned to be reworked. There are no official promo codes. PVP exists as a toggle, not as the identity of the place. Max 25 players is a lobby, not a battlefield sim.

What v5.7 fixed

The old complaint was “I bought a 5 Robux addon and it was a joke.” The new store is packs you can test, plus Mission Points and a 50% mission gamepass for people who actually claim dailies. Save n Load got patches. Spawn undo exists. PVP off awards Angel Mode so a build room can say so with a badge. Those are real quality-of-life changes. Notes: patch notes.

What it did not fix: public rooms still eat houses. Community maps still stutter without StreamingEnabled. Unofficial scripts still advertise god mode and destruction. This review will not praise those scripts. They are account risk and they ruin the 25-player workshop the game is selling.

Value for Robux

Free is enough. Stock Physics Gun, Tool Gun, crowbar, guns, props, and a SecondLogic car will fill an hour. Group extras are the first “purchase.” Badge guns (Super Gravity Gun, Golden AK-47) are the second. Citizen Vehicles or Useful Tools are the first honest Robux. Admin is a private-server toy. Radio is a hangout toy. Explosives are a singleplayer toy. That order is also the addon tier list.

Private servers at 10 Robux are the best paid feature that is not a pack. If you have two friends, host. Public is for Power Surge and for meeting Physics Guns you did not invite.

Compared with “just play GMod on PC”

Garry’s Mod on Steam is deeper. Rays Mod is the version your friends already have because they have Roblox. That is the whole pitch and it has been the pitch since 2020. Credits stay honest: vehicles by SecondLogic, icons by HappyDeppy, plane by Crazyman32. It is a remake with collaborators, not a one-person toy that stalled.

If you already own GMod and a PC that runs it, this is a side sandbox. If you do not, this is the accessible workshop. Either way, do not come here for codes. Come here for a beam, a weld, and a save slot that v5.7 treated as worth patching.

Verdict

Recommended for builders, drivers, and people who will read a bind list. Not recommended for code hunters, crash-script tourists, or anyone who needs a seasonal live-ops calendar thicker than a monthly Day 7 car. I would spend another hour in a private server with PVP off and StreamingEnabled on a community airfield. I would not spend that hour in a YouTube comment looking for RAYS2026.
