How to Play Rays Mod With Friends
Private servers, the v5.6 invite button, and why a 25-player public lobby is a different game.
Rays Mod is already a multiplayer sandbox. The pain is not “does co-op exist.” The pain is landing four friends on the same tile with the same PVP setting before someone votes a Nextbot map. The game has been live since 1 May 2020. The current line is v5.7 / v5.7.1. Place 4967465336 last updated 14 August 2026 and still shows the Clark & Verity banner. Max players are 25. Private servers cost 10 Robux.
This page is the friend path. Map choice is how to find maps. PVP is PVP toggle. First hour alone is how to play. There are no party codes. There is no official Trello of “friend features.” The invite button is in the client.
Three ways to share a server
Public multiplayer. Free. You join a lobby that already has a map vote and a PVP habit. Friends can follow you through Roblox’s join-friend flow if the server is not full. You do not control the tile. You do not control grief. This is fine for a chaotic night. It is a bad place for a first Save n Load house.
Singleplayer. Free. Friends cannot join. Use it to test a pack, learn Physics Gun binds, or claim a daily Mission Point without an audience. Then move.
Private server (10 Robux). You host. Cap is still 25. Admin Revolver works here if you own the Admin gamepass — it does not work in public. This is the correct room for a first group build, a Keepy Uppy contest, or a Clark/Verity test that should not wipe a public lobby. Buy it from the Roblox experience page, not from a “server code” list.
The invite-friends feature (v5.6)
A v5.6 notes wave added invite friends to your private server, and the same bullet says it works on unofficial maps. That matters. Community tiles are the ones people cannot find again from a public vote. Load the tile first, turn StreamingEnabled on if the map is huge, set PVP, then invite. If you invite from the menu before the tile exists, friends land in a leftover instance or the menu.
Use Roblox’s own invite UI. Do not paste an executor “server hopper.” Do not buy a third-party “private server code.” The only payment that creates a private instance is the 10 Robux product on the official place.
What to set before anyone else loads in
- Tile: official sandbox for a first group night. City community map only if StreamingEnabled is on. Power Surge only if the group came for Target Practice. Guide: maps.
- PVP: off for building (Angel Mode), on only if everyone said yes. Guide: PVP.
- Store: test Clark, Verity, or any pack in the left-side menu before friends arrive if the night is about that SKU. Catalog: Clark and Verity.
- Binds: one person should have the controls cheatsheet open. A friend who cannot freeze will steal every prop you just welded.
- Save n Load: one designated saver. Two people saving over the same slot is how v5.7 patches still lose a house. Build guide.
Public-server manners when you skip private
Say the plan in chat: build, chase, or PVP. Do not dump Nextbots Pack 6 into a weld lobby. Do not turn PVP on as a joke. Do not run an unofficial wipe script and call it a party. Safer script habits. The 25-player cap means one griefer is 4% of the room and 100% of the mood.
If two of you want a chase and the other ten want a house, leave. The private server exists for that split. Ten Robux is cheaper than a ruined Save n Load.
Mobile friends and VR
Mobile friends tap Spawn instead of hold Q. They can still grab and freeze. They cannot match a scroll-wheel distance drill. Keep the first build on a flat sandbox so a phone player can find the crate. VR is still “planned on being reworked” in the official description. Do not schedule a VR night on a promise.
What is not a friend feature
Promo codes that “unlock a party map.” Official ones do not exist. Codes hub. A Trello card titled “co-op update.” There is no official board. Trello. A script that teleports the whole server to you. That is an unofficial injector, not an invite button.
