How to Play Rays Mod
Pick a server, learn the printed Physics Gun binds, and leave the fake code lists alone.
Ray’s Mod is a free Roblox sandbox remake of Garry’s Mod by dreamy™ / RayAurus. It released on 1 May 2020. This wiki’s brand is Rays Mod. You can play it today: online multiplayer, singleplayer, or a 10 Robux private server, with a 25-player cap. The current line is v5.7 / v5.7.1. Visits sit around 295 million. There are no official promo codes and no Trello.
This page is the first hour. It does not replace the bind deep-dives. After you finish the checklist, open Physics Gun controls and Tool Gun and spawn menu. Keep the controls cheatsheet on a second screen if you have one.
Step 1: pick a server type, then a map
From the main menu choose Start Multiplayer, Start Singleplayer, or open a private server you already paid for. Multiplayer includes gamemode maps (Power Surge, zombie survival, and community modes). Singleplayer is the quiet workshop. Private is the middle: friends only, Admin Revolver allowed if you own the Admin gamepass, still capped at 25.
Then pick a map. Official sandbox maps are the right first pick. Community maps added in v5.7 (six in the notes you still see on the page, more in earlier waves) can be huge. If the client stutters, turn on StreamingEnabled when the option appears. The how-to is how to find maps. Map opinions live on the map tier list. Do not start on a Nextbot horror map if you have never frozen a crate. Friend nights use the 10 Robux private server and the v5.6 invite — play with friends.
Step 2: open the spawn menu the way the game expects
On PC, hold Q. That key also opens the color picker for the Physics Gun beam. On mobile, tap Spawn. The menu lists props, NPCs, vehicles, ragdolls, tools, and addons you own. Spawn a crate, a chair, and a stock vehicle credited to SecondLogic. Despawn with the new undo if v5.7.1 is live on your client. You have now used the core loop.
Do not open the left-side store yet. The store is for packs. The spawn menu is for play. Mixing those two screens is how people buy a Nextbot pack before they can freeze a door.
Step 3: drill the official Physics Gun binds
The Roblox description prints these for a reason:
- Left click: grab
- Right click or G: freeze
- C or scroll up: move further
- X: move closer
- E: straighten
- R: rotate
- Hold Q: change beam color (and the spawn menu)
Grab the crate, freeze it in mid-air, straighten it, rotate it into a wall, then unfreeze. If that sentence took more than a minute, stay on this drill. The Super Gravity Gun (Keepy Uppy) and every weld you make later assume this muscle memory. Full notes: Physics Gun.
Step 4: touch the Tool Gun once
Equip the Tool Gun. Weld two props. Rope a prop to a vehicle. Do not drop a bomb in a public lobby as your first test. Save n Load was patched in v5.7; use it after you have a shape worth keeping. The long version is build and Save n Load. Tool modes themselves are on the Tool Gun page.
Step 5: claim free content before Robux
Join the dreamy™ group. Relaunch. Claim the daily Mission Point if the v5.7 UI shows it. Note Day 7 (August 2026: Toy Car badge). Skim free rewards so you do not buy a pack the group already gave you. Admin Revolver, Radio, and the 50% mission gamepass can wait. They are documented on gamepasses.
Step 6: decide PVP and whether you want badges tonight
The v5.7.1 PVP toggle is a real setting. Turning PVP off awards Angel Mode. Leave it on if you came to fight. Leave it off if you came to build. The switch itself is PVP toggle. Badge hunts (Keepy Uppy, Target Practice in Power Surge, Balloon Popper) are optional tonight; the badge guide can wait until the gun feels honest.
What to ignore in hour one
Fake code lists. Unofficial executors. VR (still “planned to be reworked”). Buying every Nextbot pack. Spending Mission Points before you test a listing. Arguing about Golden AK-47 before you own Target Practice. Those tabs steal the hour that should go to freeze, weld, and one clean Save n Load.
If you only remember three things: the game is already released, Q/Spawn is the menu, and the printed Physics Gun binds are the whole skill. Everything else on this wiki is optional depth. When the first hour ends, pick one next page from the guides hub instead of opening five.
